You’re a mean one, Mr. Grinch (or Krampus)

We tried to go to the Great Wall again but the current was ripping so we instead went to Red Sand and Chiara lost her Go Pro.  Also, Nikko’s mask strap broke and not in the way that is fixable.  Sam took that broken mask without a strap and dove with it.  He gave his mask to Nikko.  I guess diving without a mask strap is a “macho” thing to do in one of the regions of Indonesia.  Then we went over to “2.0” The Dive Site.  I rolled in without my weight pockets in… but that was easily save-able.  I just swam back to the boat and put them in.  It was a nice reef but not great for nudis.  Cheryl lost her magnifying glass.

Sometimes when we walk through the resort on the path, there are these chickens/roosters just doing their thing.  I guess they are the neighbor’s.

At lunch we talked a lot about getting “Alor’ed”.  Basically it means when the current changes that you can get sucked down pretty bad without even understanding what is going on.  Whoa.  We haven’t been to any dive sites yet that are all that bad.

I asked about Christmas traditions and Max came up with this crazy one in Austria that happens on December 5th called the Krampus.  It is this really ugly creature that comes for the bad children.

Judy also said that she has a magnifying glass that she will give to Cheryl now that Judy is done diving.  I thought Judy had one… and she loves to help people and save the day.

I jumped the house reef and it was a pretty boring dive until I found one big fat Dermotobranchus under a flattened water bottle.  For some reason, nudis love bottles.  Or maybe they are just easier to see on a bottle.  Anyway, it made the dive worth it!

The night dive at Octopussy Galore was insane.  Although we didn’t see too many nudis, we saw Red and two yellow Rhinopia.  An orange ocellated frogfish, a frogfish that was lots of crazy colors and two red/orange painted frogfish.  Oh, and an adult Spanish Dancer.  Cheryl’s first one.  Speaking of firsts, it was also CiCi’s first night dive ever.  I told her that she could just hang up her torch.  She started with the best.

Here is the Nudi that is the perfect shade of grinch green:
