New Camera Frustration

I slept sooooo much last night.  I woke up about 3:30am and figured I’d had enough sleep.

It is going to be a lot today.  I am breaking in a new wetsuit and trying to use a brand new camera and housing.  I am up for it, but I have super low expectations.

Oh snap.  I figured out the one thing I did wrong.  I packed the wrong backup batteries for my housing.  I need CR 2032 and somehow I have CR 2450s.  The only thing I can think of is that I somehow ordered the wrong ones on Amazon.  I feel like I don’t often have to change these… and I’m not sure, but I might be able to dive without using the battery/vacuum seal.  I used to do this all the time with my old camera and housing… but it didn’t have the vacuum option so I would have to make sure that the seal for the vacuum is on really tight.  I can also talk to the resort staff to see if there was a possibility of getting one of these.

It's so funny because I had an issue when I was home that the Tile batteries went dead.  I think they use the same batteries.  And I decided to not go get new ones… I even checked my extra housing batteries to see if they were the same and they were not.  Crap.  But they were!!!  I just bought the wrong ones.  I feel like I was given several chances to notice this problem… and I didn’t.  Damn.  Oh well, if this is my only issue, I’m good.

It is so good to see Nikko.  His hair is longer and extra blonde at the tips (on top of his afro).  He looks like Mr. Heatmiser or something.  It’s all spiky on the surface and flowy underwater.  The guy is just as chill as ever.  I love his dive style.

I did all four dives today.  I didn’t have a headache coming up from my second dive like I did the last two years.

In the afternoon, I was the only guest on the boat and Nikko found some good nudis while I tried to get some decent shots with this new camera.  Oh man.  It is frustrating!  I am having a hard time using the back focus button.  It seems awkward for my thumb.  Maybe my thumb is too short.  I looked at the tray to see if I could move it closer… I am not sure.  I could also go back to using the half-press on the shutter/trigger.  I’ll try both to see what seems better.

He also found a cool purple rhinopia that was yawning.  I was not fast enough to get that shot.

The other boat went on a night dive so it took FOREVER before we had dinner.  I almost just grabbed a banana and left I was so tired.  But then it started pouring, so I figured I’d at least have dinner and see if it let up a little.  It didn’t.  So I skipped dessert, ordered breakfast quickly and walked back in the torrential rain.  I got drenched, but I was happy to crawl into my bed.

I woke up halfway through the night a little itchy in my legs.  I’m not sure what that is about.

Here are the ugly slugs today:
